Burns Night and Fitness

The Rotary Club of Bolsover and guests celebrated Burns Night in the time honoured fashion with haggis, neaps, and whisky all accompanied by the skirl of the bagpipes played by treasurer of the club Margaret Scott. The speaker for the evening was Phil Goulding who is a fitness / lifestyle trainer who has recently opened a studio S40 on the Chatsworth Rd.

Vice President Rita Reed welcomed Phil who opened his presentation saying that being fit was not the prerogative of the young and that many not so young people could improve their quality of life with a little regular exercise. He gave examples of how this could be achieved by simple “work outs” in the home and working environment using inexpensive equipment . The speaker went on to demonstrate how muscles are replaced by fat if not used in everyday activity and how to regain the use of limbs that are effected by non or little use.

Phil finished his presentation with a question and answer session that showed the enthusiasm of the audience toward the subject of fitness, he also kindly gave sheets of easy to do exercises to those present. Rita Reed thanked Phil for his presentation and wished him well in S40 the new business venture, members and guests expressed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause and a promise to exercise more.
